CC164 - Three Little Books, Making Small Books Workshop

In this delightful workshop participants will learn how to make three small, personalized books from cover to binding and everything in between.  You will make; The Meandering book, The Cut and Fold Book, and the Accordion Book. You’ll learn the process step by step and leave with 3 little books decorated and ready to fill with your favorite pictures, quotes, or to draw in or calligraphy on your own.  They’re excellent for sharing or giving as personal love notes to children of all ages.  As you will see, we’re making them small, but you can make these in any sizes.  These books are a great way to use up those beautiful papers you may have, so please bring any kind of paper, quantity and color not important.  Bertha has made little books from calendars, scrap paper, her grandsons’ art pictures, envelopes, wall paper, old greeting cards, wrapping paper, the sky’s the limit.

Bertha Petruski graduated from Greenfield Community College in Recreation Leadership. She was inspired to the great outdoors having grown up in a beautiful farm life.  She worked as nature guide at Northfield Recreations Center in Northfield MA. She moved to  lived in Bulgaria for nine years, teaching English as a second language and learning resourcefulness from the people of this great culture.  She took courses from Suzanne Moore in calligraphy and has taught the italic hand both in Europe (England and Bulgaria) and small classes in the US. For most of her adult life.  She learned simple bookmaking from Jeannie M Hunt and Susan Gaylord and has taught this art off and on for 10 years in small classes and schools.  Currently she is working on a Race Amity program at elementary level in Fairhaven, teaching several children’s classes and continuing to learn and explore many creative art endeavors.

  • $5 materials fee payable to instructor at beginning of class

  • Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

  • Ages 8 to Adult.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult also taking the workshop.
