CI173 – Comedy Improv 101 Class

from 245.00

Comedy that's SCARY & FAST!  But don't panic, we don't actually mean "scary and fast," we're just using the acronym.  You'll learn the basics of how to perform an improv comedy scene using SCARY & FAST.  State, Create, Accept, React, Yes .... that's how a scene is constructed.  Then using Fun, Attention, Speed, and Trust, you have the tools you'll need to successfully perform an improv comedy scene.  We'll take several scenes and their constraints, and you'll learn how to interact with other members of the class and strive for a performance level scene after ten weeks!  If you've seen "Who's Line Is It Anyway?" you're well on your way to becoming an improv comedian!  Let go of the stress and pressures of the week as you laugh and interact through positive, confident expression.  You’ve got nothing to lose but your inhibitions!

Larry Soares has been an improv comedian for about 20 years.  He started back in 2000 with The Speed of Thought Players, an improv troupe based in North Attleboro, MA, and has performed for hundreds of audiences in the Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York area.  His facial expressions have delighted audiences as he brings the funny time and time again.  His quick wit and eagerness to make people laugh make him an easily lovable, huggable, and favorite onstage.  He began his theatrical training back in 1996 with B.C.C. Theatre Rep, a New York style performance troupe.  After discovering The Speed of Thought Players (SOTP), he realized that improv comedy was a perfect fit for him.  He continues to perform to private, corporate events as well as perform as a stand-up comedian throughout the New England area at various comedy clubs and venues.

Tom Wilbur has been performing improv comedy for 13 years.  He joined the Speed of Thought Players back in 2006 and loves to make audiences laugh.  There has yet to be a performance where an audience member doesn't approach Tom to ask about his uncanny resemblance to former U.S. President Bill Clinton.  His smile, charisma and pure improv talent grace the stage each time Tom performs.  He performs regularly at private, corporate events to continue to show companies and businesses all over the New England area just how funny he is.
