TA194 - How to Wet Felt Class

from 125.00

How to Wet Felt a Vase & Votive with Centerpiece Mat.  We will learn the basic process of wet felting, which is interlocking and compacting wool fibers by alternating pressure, soap, and moisture.  You will felt soft Merino Sheep hair into a permanent seamless fabric over a pair of glass votives, and then over a shapely glass vase. Finally, you will customize it into a unique art vessel with multiple embellishment offerings such as; beads, wire, ribbon, vintage bits, buttons & more!  You will felt a cobweb mat for displaying your pieces. You will choose your own colors of wool roving as part of your kit, to be purchased at the beginning of the first class.  Please bring a dish or hand towel, a vessel that holds at least 2 cups water. Chey will provide Dawn ‘Free’ and Clear’ dish soap.  If you are allergic, please bring any liquid dish soap you prefer.

Chey Soares has been creating artful things since attending F.I.T., the Fashion Institute of Technology in the mid 70’s.  She lived several years in Europe, owned retail shops on Martha’s Vineyard and Mattapoisett, and has traveled down many creative roads.  She has been a 7th Avenue pattern maker, fashion magazine photo stylist, has repurposed vintage clothing, been a weaver and beaded jewelry maker. Her dried floral designs whose poetic creations sold in 35 stores around the country, were collected by Rose Styron and Carly Simon.
