CG209A - FUSED GLASS PLATES AND BOWLS

Using glass sheets, frit and stringers, make a variety of plates and bowls that will be fused and slumped in our computerized kiln.  There is an endless array of patterns and colors to make, limited only to your imagination.  These make great gifts or decorative additions to your home.

Please bring to the first class the following:

  • Sketchbook 11x14 or larger pencil and an eraser

 The following can be purchased from the instructor at cost:

  • Toyo self-oiling glass cutter.  $25.20

  • Each project requires a 10 x 10” sheet of tekta glass $10.70 and a 10 x 10” sheet of

  • Bullseye fusible glass, which ranges in price from $15 to $30.

  • Students can choose to make smaller pieces as a cost saving measure if they wish.

INSTRUCTOR BIO:

Karen Minati Snyder has a BFA degree in sculpture from C.W. Post College (LIU) and a Master of Art Education from UMASS Dartmouth where she specialized in ceramics. She has taught pre-school, elementary, middle school and high school art in public and private schools. Many area adults have taken ceramic classes in her Dartmouth home studio. She has studied jewelry and kiln fired glass at Metalwerx in Waltham, Worcester Center for Crafts, Brookfield Craft Center in Connecticut and Snow Farm in Amherst.

Note: All ceramic & glass classes are held on location at Art Scapes 665 Orchard Street, New Bedford, MA

  • Saturdays, February 2, 9, 23, and March 2, 1 - 4 p.m. No class February 16

  • Plus materials fee payable to instructor at the beginning of class.
