An Hour with Eleanor Roosevelt with Cynthia Krause
A one-woman performance titled "An Hour with Eleanor." It is a fictional portrayal of the life of Eleanor Roosevelt, based on historical events. The play explores a life of joys and sorrows experienced by this controversial political figure who, along with being the wife of an American president, was a catalyst for social change in her own right. Audience members follow her life's journey working toward the betterment of her world.
Cynthia Krause has been involved in the theater since she started out as Mrs. Fezziwig in “Scrooge” in 1989. She has since appeared as characters in other performances such as Madame Armfeldt in “A Little Night Music” and Jane Austen in “The Novelist”. Mostly She has played in A.R. Gurney plays such as “Love Letters”,” Ancestral Voices” and “The Dining Room”.
Her turn to playwriting came in 2022 when the Marion Art Center Playwright Incubator Project selected the play that she wrote titled “One Hour with Eleanor”. After working on it for 14 months with mentors Richard and Maura Van Voris and Linda Monchik coming on board to play Eleanor, it is now off and running to great acclaim.
