Learn to Weave: Rigid Heddle Loom
Discover the art of weaving in this five-week introductory course with fiber artist Lisa Elliott. Designed for beginners, the class will introduce you to weaving on a rigid heddle loom while you create a finished project of your own.
Choose to weave a scarf, table runner, set of placemats, or set of towels while learning the fundamentals of plain weave, color interaction, and simple techniques for adding texture and visual interest.
No weaving experience is necessary. Looms and weaving equipment are provided. After registration, Lisa will contact students with guidance on selecting and purchasing the appropriate yarn for their chosen project.

An additional $10 loom rental fee is paid directly to the instructor at the first class. Yarn is purchased separately by each student.

Instructor Bio
Lisa Elliott comes from a family of artists; her parents, siblings, husband, and children. She received her BFA degree in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and later completed four additional semesters in weaving at UMass Dartmouth. After several years of weaving on her four-harness floor loom, where she’s currently working on rag rugs, she discovered the joy of creating wearables and home accessories on the simple rigid heddle loom. The simplicity of plain weave emphasizes color interactions. Finger-controlled techniques and the use of a pick-up stick can add subtle or dramatic textural details.
